The Cheese Trail is not a trail in the normal sense, rather an association of people and businesses that all have something to do with the history of cheese making in the Bregenzerwald region – from alpine dairy to guesthouses. The many and varied institutions and members that make up the Cheese Trail organise events throughout the year where you are invited to taste the local produce and find out the secrets of cheese-making.
Over 40 Bregenzerwald restaurants and guesthouses belong to the certified group of cheese restaurants. They serve delicious cheese dishes throughout the year. Many of the Cheese Restaurants are located in typical Bregenzerwald buildings with their sun-burned façades of weathered wooden shingles and cosy rooms with low ceilings.
