Every year, the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg in Bregenzerwald presents a first class cultural programme: song recitals, piano and chamber concerts, all celebrate Franz Schubert’s work. The prominent music festival known as the “Schubertiade” has attracted international audiences since its premiere in 1976.
From 27th August to 11th September 2011 Bregenzerwald is the venue for this cultural gem. The Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg, once again, presents popular super-stars of classical music. There will be further concerts from the 2nd to the 9th of October 2011 in Hohenems.
Schubertiade: in Schwarzenberg since 2001
Even during Franz Schubert’s lifetime, the performances of his work were called “Schubertiade” concerts. In the olden days, these concerts were only performed for private audiences, whilst today, the concert series and music festivals attract an international audience of classical music enthusiasts. Since 2001 the Schubertiade has taken place in Schwarzenberg. Since 2005 there have been two additional concert cycles in Hohenems, where this music event in honour of Franz Schubert was first initiated by Hermann Prey in 1976.

Matinees, chamber concerts, piano evenings and song recitals – every year Bregenzerwald turns into a Mecca for classical music fans from all over the world. Apart from well known artists, like the Hagen Quartet, and the pianist Martin Stadtfeld, there will be debutant musicians performing at the festival.
