Lakes around Bezau
Jump into the refreshing waters on a hot summer's day - perfect. The Körbersee Lake and the Seewaldsee Lake are located close to Bezau and provide several facilities for playing and romping about for your children. The huge Lake Constance offers wonderful swimming spots and is located within less than half an hour by car.
Nature and animals
Beautiful hikes await you around the Post Bezau Hotel. During a family hike you can discover the natural environment and watch the animals. If you want to get really close to the animals and also stroke them, visit Astrid’s petting zoo. Mini-pot-bellied pigs, pygmy goats, tortoises, rabbits, guinea pigs and ducks are waiting for your visit.
At “Gustl” in Bizau you can visit four donkeys with your children and afterwards why not stop at the “Schwanen” for the legendary apple cake? For guests with a big sweet tooth we recommend the home-made, creamy ice cream at “Emma’s Eis”.
Summer toboggan run and Wälderbähnle
Fancy a toboggan run in summer? In Bizau, right next to Bezau, you can dash down the Hirschberg to the valley on the world’s longest summer toboggan run on more than 1.8km with 80 curves. The run is open from early June. The double chair lift will take you all the way up and you can borrow toboggans directly at the run.
A more moderate way of transport is the “Wälderbähnle”. The historic railway judders through the wonderful Bregenzerwald landscapes from late May to early October. We especially recommend a ride with the steam locomotive, which has been in use since 1902.
High ropes course and barefoot path in Bizau
Up, up and away is the motto at the “Waldseilgarten” high ropes course in Damüls. The footbridges, ropes and elements take all the way up over 12m through the trees. Safety first, with climbing ropes, belts, helmets and safety equipment. You can your children can train your coordination and balance in a very playful way. No special experiences required – everyone can join in and everyone will love it – open from June to October.
During your summer holiday you should not miss out on the barefoot path in Bizau in case of nice weather. Discover big dragonflies, toads and all animals that live in the water here in Bregenzerwald along the way. You and your children will be able to feel much more, because you can only walk on this special path without shoes. A sensible experience.
