The Skin-Care Beauty ABC: Everything You Need to Know, Part II

Back to list

The beauty landscape can be how vast and complex. Every Monday we’ll share the secrets behind our products and ingredients on social media, to make it easier for you, we sumed all our knowledge up in this Susanne Kaufmann™ Beauty glossary.

F is for …

Face Mist.
Instead of just splashing water on your face refresh with our Moisturizing Spray Harmonizing. This facial spray contains calming witch-hazel and nourishing silk proteins, plus ectoin for a repairing antioxidant effect.

Free Radicals.
Produced by UV radiation, free radicals attack essential molecules in the skin such as lipids, proteins and DNA. To combat this our products contain antioxidants that bind the free radicals and shield your skin. Try our new ampoule set for the most concentrated antioxidant regime.

Unwanted wrinkles can be caused by the frequent tension of various facial muscles. Initially small lines form when the face relaxes. However, if the face is permanently tense and the circulation is disturbed, the wrinkles become deeper over time and finally remain. At Susanne Kaufmann, we recommend a special fascia massage to help to reduce expression lines - we use this technique in our treatments and recommend it at home too.

Fruit acid.
Hard to pronounce but very effective, organic hydroxycarboxylic and dicarboxylic acids found in fruit are the unsung miracle workers that improve skin texture! They help target impurities, wrinkles and dull skin. You'll find them in our Enzyme Peel and Moisturizing Gel Line M.

G is for …

Grapeseed Oil.
A powerful antioxidant, Grapeseed Oil works to delay skin aging by minimizing damage caused by free radicals. You can find it in our Beard Oil Line M; it helps keep hair silky and smooth!

A skin-repairing substance, Glycerin replenishes and restores the complexion by drawing and absorbing water from the air, helping the skin to retain moisture. Fact: all of our products use only the highest quality vegetable-derived glycerin.

Here are three of our tried & tested tips for achieving a glowing, radiant complexion:
1) Before applying serums, start with a gentle peel so that it that their ingredients absorb better;
2) Use a jade roller to kickstart circulation and your lymphatic system;
3) Stimulate skin with a facial massage for a natural, plumping effect.

Green Beauty.
There's some serious buzz about Green Beauty right now. But for us it's far more than simply a trend: Susanne has always believed in the power of plants and their natural active ingredients, which is why they can be found in all of our products.

H is for …

When the skin overproduces melanin due to sun exposure or a change in hormones, it can lead to hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin). Combat this with our Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreeen during the day, and then at night apply our Skin Brightening and Radiance Complex - a powerful serum with pea extract that brightens and refines the skin’s appearance.

We swear by honey for its antibacterial, antiseptic, antioxidant and antifungal properties. You can find it in many of our products, including our cult Body Butter (once you try it you'll be hooked).

Hyaluronic Acid.
When it comes to hydration, there is nothing quite like hyaloronic acid to get the job done. Fun fact: Ours is purely plant-derived obtained from the aloe vera plant. You can find it in our cult Hyaluron Serum.

As Susanne explains, "It's important to drink enough water because if we don't, the vessels constrict and you can very quickly see it in the complexion. Moisturising creams, fluids and masks containing hyaluronic acid also help to lock moisture into the skin."

Hands are usually the first place to prematurely age, yet they are also often the most overlooked when it comes to the beauty stakes. Here's how to give your hands some much needed TLC: 1. Apply our Hand Peel Rejuvenating, gently scrub and rinse; 2. Follow with our Hand Serum Rejuvenating; 3. Finish by gently massaging in our Hand Moisturiser or Lotion.
