Mountain tours on summer holiday in the Alps in Austria

Hiking, mountaineering & climbing

Many things lose their importance in the mountains while you feel nature step for step. The Bregenz Forest offers its guest a wide offer: from flat, simple mountain tours for families, such as in Schönebach to demanding mountain tours on Arlberg with the ultimate challenge for summiteers.

In order to avoid having to climb every single vertical metre yourself, the cableways function as the perfect “climbing aid”.

The right equipment for the mountain

The right equipment is especially important for your mountain tours in Vorarlberg. Firm shoes (ankle-high mountain shoes) as well as weather-resistant clothing are absolutely necessary. In addition, it is recommended that you bring a hiking map and binoculars with you so that you can observe marmots and various kinds of birds as well as all of the flora and fauna on your mountain tours in the Bregenz Forest especially well. A snack in your backpack, enough to drink and away you go!

Hotel Post Bezau is happy to provide you with maps or recommend lovely tours to you.

Families and athletic hikers both feel comfortable in the Bregenz Forest whose diverse hiking areas meet all demands. The selection ranges from stroller-friendly hiking trails to 1-day tours for mountain experts.

Hotel Post hiking tip: From Schoppernau to Schönenbach

Take the bus to Schoppernau. From there climb the Diedamskopf (on foot or with the gondola lift) and hike along the plateau path and mountain ridge to Kreuzle, an old pass in Kleine Walsertal in the direction of Schwarzwasserhütte.

The hike leads past a marshy region and a steep ascent to Schönenbach, where the best cheese dumplings can be had at Egener. The bus will then take you back to Hotel Post in Bezau.
