Bregenz Festival 19th July to 20th August 2017

Kasper Holten directs Georges Bizet's Carmen on an impressive stage that will certainly provide many surprises. The premiere is on 19th July at the Bregenz Festival.

Schubertiade 17th to 25th June 2017 and 25th August to 3rd September 2017

In June and August/September, Schwarzenberg, only a few minutes away from Bezau, will be completely under the banner of Franz Schubert. The concerts of the Schubertiade take place in the Angelika Kaufmann Saal.

Bezau Beatz 10th to 12th August 2017

In August, Bezau will become the stage for Bezau Beatz for the 9th time.

Cultural events

Werkraum Haus

Exhibitions, theatres and museums provide insight into the history, culture and art of the Bregenz Forest, featuring, amongst others, Werkraum Haus in Andelsbuch - a house for crafts in the Bregenz Forest built by architect Peter Zumthor.

Kunsthaus Bregenz KUB

Kunsthaus Bregenz is one of the outstanding exhibition institutions for contemporary art in Europe in terms of its architecture and programming. You can see more than 100 architectural models by Peter Zumthor in the collection.

Angelika Kauffmann Museum

Invisible from the outside, the 450 year old Building includes a modern exhibition room in the former economic wing. The modern room hosts annually changing themed-exhibitions with original works of the famous painter. The initial museum of local history was built in 1913. With the third relocation in 1928 the museum has found its place in the so called “Kleberhaus”, together with the Angelika Kauffmann Museum.

Hittisau Women’s Museum

Rumour has it, that particularly strong and self-confident women live in the Bregenzerwald. As a matter of fact some interesting traditions on this subject reinforce the assumptions, and the women’s museum specifically revives those traditions in its work. The museum  exhibits the world (past and present) from a woman’s perspective. Furthermore, it critically demonstrates the confrontation of women with their natural and societal surroundings and the thereby resulting women-specific culture.

Frauenmuseum (Women’s museum) in Hittisau

Beginning on 26 May 2013, Frauenmuseum Hittisau will present the exhibition “Europeans. Women with vision”. Photographer Bettina Flitner spent three years travelling all over Europe to photograph “great Europeans who have marked our continent”: artists and scientists, writers and researchers, politicians and human rights activists.
