Hike. Explore our “local mountain,” the Niedere (1,640 m) in a cozy (cable car) or sporty (1.5 hour climb) fashion. Once at the top, there is a panoramic view of the Bregenz Forest and the Rhine Valley. Alternatively, you can hike comfortably to Schönenbach: for this, you take the Bezau cable car to “Mittelstation,” and then follow the signposts to the beautiful village of Vorarlberg. We advise you to start this walk in the morning, so you can have lunch at Jagdgasthaus Egender. There, the best cheese spätzle in the region awaits you. Then you can return to the Hotel Post Bezau comfortably by bus. For avid climbers, Kanisfluh (2,044 m) at sunrise is a sight to see, or the summits at the far edges of the Bregenz Forest, such as Zitterklapfen (2,342 m), Hochkünzelspitze (2,397 m), Hohe Ifen (2,230 m), or the Great Widderstein (2,533 m).
Cycling and Fly-Fishing. Whether enjoying a scenic ride with our new e-bikes along the Bregenzer Ach and through the surrounding communities, or chasing a little more adrenaline while mountain biking along panoramic routes and single trails, the Bregenz Forest is a crowd pleaser for all cycling lovers. And with a little fall wind, the return journey to the Hotel Post Bezau is a breeze.
The Bregenz Forest is still an insider secret for fly-fishers. The forest’s streams, rivers, and lakes are unique fishing waters. In cooperation with our local fly-fishing school, we offer courses for all levels, and water guiding and rental equipment.
Cheese. What Bordeaux is for wine lovers, the Bregenz Forest is for cheese connoisseurs. This is not only our own conclusion, but was expressed by the well-known travel guide Merian. We certainly have been doing it for a long time. Here in the Bregenz Forest, you can not only taste exquisite cheese at over 180 member companies along the “KäseStrasse”, but also watch it being produced. Of course, you will also find it in our breakfast buffet!
