20 - 24 May 2026
The dance retreat with Rena Brandenberger offers exciting days of movement with a focus on varied, contemporary dance training as well as exciting input on dance technique, dance history, anatomy, bodywork (e.g. yoga, Feldenkrais & Co.), improvisation, and choreography – and lots of relaxation and flow. The dance retreat course programme teaches basic knowledge of contemporary dance and is therefore also suitable for people with no dance experience.
Rena combines dance and flow classes during the retreat. The dance class is a colourful mix of everything that unites Rena's dance world: contemporary dance peppered with elements from modern, ballet, and jazz. Technical and strength-building exercises as well as bodywork elements are packed into a varied warm-up. This is followed by dynamic diagonals with turns, jumps, and floor elements, sometimes practised individually, sometimes embedded in choreographic combination diagonals. The choreography combo at the end is a creative mix of the elements learnt: sometimes fast and dynamic, sometimes slow and lyrical.
The flow class offers a relaxing and activating mix of methods such as yoga, Feldenkrais & Co. Varied stretches and soothing body mobilisations ensure a good body feeling.
Rena Brandenberger studied contemporary stage dance in Berlin and at the Institute for Dance Studies in her home city of Bern. The dancer and choreographer has performed her work in Zurich, Bern, Rome, and Berlin, among other places. She has staged numerous productions of her own, is responsible for the open-air dance productions in Bern's Rosengarten, and has choreographed for the Basel Theatre, the Zentrum Paul Klee, and Swiss television. In addition to her own weekly classes in Zurich & Bern, she regularly teaches for public and public schools and is invited to give masterclasses and workshops throughout Switzerland and beyond.
The dance retreat with Rena Brandenberger offers lots of movement with contemporary dance training and at the same time exciting input on dance technique, dance history, anatomy, bodywork, improvisation, and choreography. It is suitable for both experienced dancers and people without dance experience.
